Volta Aid Foundation is a registered charity in Queensland, Australia holding registration with the Office of Fair Trading, the Australian Commission for Non-profits and Charities (ACNC) and the Australian Taxation Office. We are run by a group of six volunteers who act as the management committee and coordinate all fundraisers and events.

Our mission is to support the work of Volta Aid Foundation in Ghana

by providing funding for their core programs and special projects. We have provided multi-year scholarships to two young women to complete Nurses Training College and Teachers Training College as well as secured funding for countless diabetes outreaches across the Volta Region. Our efforts amplify the reach of Volta Aid Foundation in Ghana and allow for greater sustainability and future planning. We are a separate legal entity.

Multi-Purpose Building

In the almost 8 years that Volta Aid Foundation has been operating, we have experienced many ups and downs as we work in the turbulent environment that is Ghana. Hundreds of volunteers have come and gone, while worldwide trends and domestic pressures continue to squeeze small independent non-profit organisations like ourselves. We currently find ourselves just short of realising our dream, a dream that will cement our presence in the Volta Region and allow us to expand our projects to a new level. That dream is of course the completion of our multi-purpose workshop.

Progress has stalled the past 24 months because of financial insecurity, yet we are agonizingly close. We have a shell of a building as can be seen in the pictures, and once complete, the building will play host to three key activities of Volta Aid Foundation:

  1. A start-up zone for women will make available a workshop equipped with sewing machines and other equipment for up to six women who can work for a limited period while they save funds to open their own business.
  2. Our community library will be reopened allowing children of all educational levels to utilize reading books, learning materials and educational games.
  3. It will also be our office which will enable us to operate our projects from one central location and will lower our overheads.

This building represents our commitment to improving the lives of those in the Volta Region but we need your help. There has rarely been a time when we have asked for financial donations, but alas, the time has come. With your help we hope to raise $20,000 to complete the building and breathe life back into our work. Please consider making a donation below and together we can keep making a real difference and leave more than just footprints in the Volta Region of Ghana.
