A belief in the power of education

International Women’s Day 2018

International Women’s Day is a chance for the world to shine a spotlight on gender equality. Inequality between the genders is reflected worldwide amidst everything we hold true and dear. The plight of women in developing countries is significantly more pronounced yet often fails to capture the world’s attention. At Volta Aid Foundation, we seek to equip young girls with lifelong learnings by providing them with education scholarships. We believe that education has the ability to transform lives. In fact, we know it does.

Research shows that when women are educated, there are more jobs for everyone. Educated girls are less likely to marry young or contract HIV  —  and more likely to have healthy, educated children. Each additional year of school a girl completes cuts both infant mortality and child marriage rates. What more reason do we need to continue to invest in female education?
